Tales from the Crypt Reboot Might Not Be What We Expected

It turns out the widely announced M. Night Shyamalan reboot of Tales From The Crypt is going be very different than the original HBO series.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that while TNT is planning to air the new series, HBO in fact still has the rights to the lovable and hilariously gruesome Crypt Keeper character we’ve all come to know and love.

This means TNT will most likely be using The Old Witch or The Vault-Keeper to host the show.

Oh and did I mention TNT thinks the show is better as a season long anthology (i.e. continuous story) rather than the weekly anthology style?

Which Villain Will Mads Mikkelsen Play In Dr. Strange?

So who will Mads Mikkelsen, formerly Hannibal Lector, play in the upcoming Marvel movie Dr. Strange?

Cinema Blend has a great article on five potential candidates you can read below, but I’m is predicting one particular character who not only would make a fantastic addition to the MCU but is perfect for an actor the caliber of Mads.

One of Strange’s first opponents in the comics, he has the potential of adding a significant amount of danger not only to Dr. Strange but all the characters in the MCU.  He has a history with Spider-man, Captain America, Hulk, S.H.E.I.L.D, and Ghost Rider (whom Marvel has the rights to again…) so it wouldn’t be difficult to incorporate him into the MCU all over the place.

Remaking ‘The Blob’ Isn’t The Worst Idea

So they are remaking The Blob…Again…

This isn’t the worst idea to come out of Hollywood considering they are remake happy most of the time. Hell even Rob Zombie was working on a remake up until a few years ago.
What’s nice is The Blob lends itself well the periodic updates and it’s been nearly 30 years since the Chuck Russell update, which I’ve said before is one of the best movie remakes of all time.
The big question now is just how well Simon West will pull off and update to a classic monster movie. He’s known for making fun, action packed movies that are usually somewhere between O..K.. and BlahTo compound concern, it’s not clear who penned the current iteration of the screenplay, and that lack of information probably means a lot of hands have had at the script. Adding Samuel Jackson to the cast is a step in the right direction but even the best actor can struggle if the direction, screenplay and editing aren’t up to snuff.
In the end it really doesn’t matter. The 1958 version will forever be a classic. The 1988 version still holds up as a strong and action infused update. The 2016 version will probably be fun if nothing else, and what can you expect from a movie titled THE BLOB!

Big News From Moviepilot on the IT remake.

The Remake of IT just found it’s new Pennywise?

Moviepilot claims to have the scoop…that Cary Fukunaga (True Detective), who is directing the remake of Stephen King’s novel, created quite a stir by apparently casting Will Poulter as the hilarious and monstrous dancing clown.

Based on True Detective, we will accept anything Fukunaga does with IT.

They’ve replaced TIM CURRY?!With this kid?! Fans will be outraged…

Update

I Love Gore artwork. Bloody heart!

Raw Movie Reviews has been inactive all week… What’s the deal?

Hello kiddies. I apologise for the lack of activity all week. Unfortunately life gets in the way of my fun sometimes. Annoying right?
Raw Movie Reviews is also in the process of migrating to WordPress. Since this is a one (sometimes two) man operation it’s a slow slog through the process. I am, however, confident that the end result will be well worth the effort.
New posts will be coming today and tomorrow for several new movies as well updated news on something or another.
Stay tuned and thanks for your patience!

New Friday the 13th Details

According to Dread Central, Friday the 13th is coming back to the big screen and it’s just obtained a solid writer.

Of course if they are just picking up a writer it’s early enough in the process that it may never actually make it on screen, but we’re hoping.
